Terrestrial Antennas – Digital Services
Unlike the old days when you used to be able to receive analogue broadcasts in some parts of the country using a piece of ‘wet string’, the new digital system relies on your equipment receiving a clean uninterrupted stream of digital data which it decodes from the transmitted digital signal (A Digital Multiplex).
Unfortunately due to the amount of spurious radio waves now being broadcast by various pieces of electrical and electronic equipment around your home, even the new digital signals can some times be afflicted by one or two minor irritations.
Just as with the old analogue services, digital television can occasionally display unusual affects, which impair our overall viewing pleasure. The only difference is that these symptoms take a very different appearance to the effects that we have seen before on analogue televisions.
Example: Instead of an analogue picture becoming grainy (snowy) due to the effects of limited reception caused by something like bad weather, a digital picture may ‘Freeze’ or disappear completely, leaving you with just a ‘Red Dot’ on the screen.
Alternatively where analogue pictures used to show black and white dot patterns caused by local electrical interference, pictures produced from a digital signal may intermittently ‘Break up’ or create a Mosaic affects (Macro Blocking).
Digital aerial installations should incorporate high quality materials, which have been approved for digital reception and completed by professional installers using the latest digital Test equipment.
TSG installation teams across the country install durable high quality aerials to provide customers with access to an extended programme line up of over 30 channels including ITV2/ CBBC/ BBC24/ MTV etc
· Digital TV Services -
· Freeview & Top Up TV Services
Since the launch of terrestrial digital television in November 1998 over 1 million viewers are now estimated to be receiving new digital television services across the UK – Freeview & Top Up TV.
In a lot of cases, viewers wishing to receive the latest digital services have found it necessary to replace their existing aerial with a new d
igital aerial which is capable of providing adequate levels of noise free signal to the receiver.
Terrestrial Antennas – Analogue Services
· Analogue Services (BBC1/ BBC2 ITV CH4/ CH5)
Dependent upon the position of the local/ regional transmitter and your household, it may be necessary to install a new aerial or realign an existing aerial to receive the desired channels. TSG installers will always try and offer customers a practical solution to overcome their reception problems.
· Analogue FM Radio Services (Radio 1/ Radio 2 etc)
Customers wishing to improve the quality of their radio reception may wish to upgrade their existing aerial system to include an FM aerial to receive their favourite radio programmes in Stereo sound. TSG can provide a selection of FM omni directional and directional FM aerials to suit your local reception needs.
· Digital (DAB) Radio Services (Virgin/ Classic FM/ Rock/ Oneword)
Similarly the new Digital Audio Broadcasts (DAB) new being launched across the country also require a good clean uninterrupted signal to optimise the best results from your receiving equipment. In the majority of cases the installation of a simple DAB aerial will ensure that nothing interrupts with your listening pleasure
Listeners wishing to take full advantage of the crystal clear sound of DAB radio services may require a new DAB antenna installation to receive their local/ national channels. Dependant upon DAB services being broadcast in you local area, TSG installation teams can normally provide access to a broad range of DAB radio channels.
